Firepit propane – Outdoor fire pits powered by propane offers the look and feel of a campfire without hauling or chopping wood. The furnace uses a fire pit gas burner and can be built in any decorative pattern that utilizes non-combustible material. The propane tank is usually placed in a hidden location away from the fireplace for aesthetic and safety reasons.
Dig the ground under the planned furnace. Remove the sod and other organic material to a depth of about 4 inches and filling the area with pea-size gravel or rock. Place the gas furnace burner in the middle of the gravel area and extend the hose to a nearby location where the firepit propane tank can be placed out of sight.

Arrange a circle of landscape retaining wall blocks around the burner. For a raised firepit propane, stack two or more retaining wall block and add more grit to the base before placing the furnace burner on a level of about 6 inches below the top of the fire perimeter. Cover the burner with large pieces of non-combustible material. It can be crushed lava rocks or pieces of glass that reflect light and add interest to the flames.
